Step 1 - Review size and price options
Our pricing is based on the size of the map you choose, plus tax and shipping.
Round lakes and long lakes oriented at an angle (northwest-southeast or southwest-northeast) look best on a square map (14x14, 22x22, or 30x30)
Long lakes oriented north-south or east-west look best on a rectangular map (14x22, 14x30, or 22x30)
Step 2 - Contact Lakes3D
Contact us to start the process and we'll work with you to find a size/orientation that best fits your lake and budget.
Step 3 - Review weight table
Lakes3D maps are heavy because they are solid wood. Be sure to have a location in mind that can support the weight, and be safely and securely mounted to a wall. The table below gives an approximate minimum to maximum weight range of your finished map.
Step 4 - Review Product Specifications, Limitations, and Mounting Disclaimer
Dimensions are nominal and include the title bar at the bottom of each map. Height and width may vary by up to 0.5 inch, thickness may vary by up to 0.25 inch.
Although the epoxy includes a UV protectant, the artwork should remain indoors and not in direct sunlight to minimize clouding.
Maps are priced to include only the primary (one) lake of interest and not additional lakes.
The maps do not include typical mapping features like roads, points of interest, north arrow, scale bar, or legend. This intentionally keeps the maps clear of distractions so the viewer can focus on the natural beauty of the art. North is always at the top of the map - as it should be.
The maps are sanded; however, they may still have sharp edges or be rough to the touch, particularly in areas of high terrain detail. Use caution when handling.
Some deflection of the map may occur but is generally low (e.g. less than 0.25 inch). This is due to wood stress from removing wood on the front of the map.
For longevity, keep maps in a climate controlled environment. Since these are wood maps, they are susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity.
The wood maps are heavy and require secure mounting. Mounting hardware is not included. The purchaser is responsible for selecting appropriate hardware and installing the map safely, ideally into wall studs or other structural supports. The seller is not responsible or liable for damage, injury, or loss resulting from improper mounting or installation.
When attaching hardware, do so using screws into the back of the map. Be careful not to drill through the map or into the bottom of the blue epoxy layer.
