How do I order a Lakes3D map?
Step 1 - Review size and price options
Our pricing is based on the size of the map you choose, plus tax and shipping.
Expect approximately 6-8 weeks for production and delivery.
Consider the size of map that you prefer and the overall shape of your lake. Here are some suggestions,
Round lakes look best on a square map (14x14, 22x22, or 30x30)
Long lakes oriented north-south or east-west look best on a rectangular map (14x22, 14x30, or 22x30)
Long lakes oriented at an angle (northwest-southeast or southwest-northeast) look best on a square map (14x14, 22x22, or 30x30)
Step 2 - Contact Lakes3D
Contact us to start the process and we'll work with you to find a size/orientation that best fits your lake and budget.
Step 3 - Review weight tableĀ
Lakes3D maps are heavy because they are solid wood. Be sure to have a location in mind that can support the weight, and be safely and securely mounted to a wall. The table below gives an approximate minimum to maximum weight range of your finished map.
Step 4 - Review Product Specifications, Limitations, and Mounting Disclaimer
Product Specifications, Limitations, and Mounting Disclaimer
Dimensions are nominal and include the title bar at the bottom of each map. Height and width may vary by up to 0.5 inch, thickness may vary by up to 0.25 inch. If a frame is added, this will add another 0.7 to 1 inch around the perimeter.
Although the epoxy includes a UV protectant, the artwork should remain indoors and not in direct sunlight to minimize clouding.
Not all lakes have bathymetry data and may not be shown on the map. Additionally, maps may include only the primary lake of interest and not adjacent lakes.
The maps do not include typical mapping features like north arrow, scale bar, or legend. This intentionally keeps the maps clear of distractions so the viewer can focus on the natural beauty of the art. North is always at the top of the map - as it should be.
Some deflection toward the front of the map may occur but is generally low (e.g. less than 0.25 inch). This is due to wood stress from removing wood on the front of the map.
For longevity, keep maps in a climate controlled environment. Since these are wood maps, they are susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity.
The wood maps are heavy and require secure mounting. Mounting hardware is not included. The purchaser is responsible for selecting appropriate hardware and installing the map safely, ideally into wall studs or other structural supports. The seller is not responsible or liable for damage, injury, or loss resulting from improper mounting or installation. When attaching hardware, do so using screws into the back of the map, not the frame (if provided). The weight of the map is almost entirely in the main body of the map. Be careful not to drill through the map or into the bottom of the blue epoxy layer.
Step 5 - Provide payment
Lakes3D will send you a link for online payment. Payment in full must be received by Lakes3D prior to starting production. No refunds will be given once production has started. Applicable sales tax will be calculated based on the delivery or event location and added at checkout. Customers are responsible for any use tax due in their state if sales tax is not collected. Delivery charges, if applicable, will also be added at checkout.
